In my state (Oregon) there are 12,000 beds for male inmates and 1,680 for female. Over 7x difference! That ratio, those numbers, were based on studies and assumptions made almost 100 years ago and do not reflect reality at all. Especially with meth in the picture, and Oregon is meth central if there ever was one. Anyway, the reason why they never happen to send too many women to prison and run out of beds unexpectedly is district attorneys are always notified of inmate populations and will literally back off prosecuting when the beds close to running out. This is actual reality and one of the unexpected consequences is that female criminals know all of this like the back of their hand, become emboldened to commit more severe crimes and the situation gets worse.

Unlike males, females almost universally make sure the environment in which they commit the abuse (whether or not they even have a victim in mind at that point) APPEARS to be under their complete control before they commit the act. Also, unlike most men, females will choose to abuse simply because they are in control of an environment as opposed to any other motivation. This combination is very lucrative to a deranged female mind. I emphasized 'appears' a few sentences ago because only through modern technology (and the near-infinite amount of digital 'fingerprints' we unintentionally leave on almost everything we do online) are we uncovering such a large number of females in roles of authority sexually abusing children, for instance. The abuse always occurred. It was ALWAYS there. It's naturally really hard for a lot of people to wrap their brain around that reality because it throws a lot of existential assumptions right out the window.
