At least where I am from every kid played youth soccer as it's easy for kids to run around and kick things without any real risk of being hurt. There really isn't an infrastructure for high school soccer that's significant and if they do play it's usually baseball players trying to keep fitness before their season.In essence it's seen as a childish sport.
