On the contrary, that's exactly what civilized countries should do. Fiinancial corruption is imho worse than physical violence because most peopl can't see it taking place in a way to defend themselves against it. It also rots a system from the inside, literally cancer.I do not think this is a commie, but rather a traditional Chinese thing. If you look into the history of Chinese philosophical/legal thought, the Legalist faction that succeeded Confucians (who put family and loyalty first) were extremely strict. This is in part because they blamed the Confucians for the ~500 years of bloodshed during the warring states period and viewed strict and inflexible legal rules as the only way to maintain a unified and peaceful society over the long term.
