Women have plenty of important roles, just not pastor. Just like women can’t be fathers either. But women CAN be sons of God and men can be “the bride of christ” - none of this is an excuse to get jealous and try to foolishly place women in the specific role of pastor. Its quite clearly a covetous, prideful development in the emerging church and not biblical Christian teaching. Even your common sense tells you this. If the pastors wife is doing the preaching what good are god’s promises to the husband and what point is there in even having authority at all? If the end result is that somebody’s wife steps up while hubby steps down or splits a role (like a gimp i might add) you should be able to tell that this is sinful and destructive to what God laid down. All you’re gonna end up with is a misguided church with a watered down gospel and a chick hyped up on her own celebrity until she exhausts herself trying to be something she was never ordained or even asked to be. When you hear these people saying “god told me to become a pastor” you should start questioning their spiritual state.
