I suffered from the same Americanophile delusions that so many Europeans have before they actually visit the US for some prolonged period of time. The American Dream is indeed just that. Half of the country lives in frankly Albania-tier poverty. Most American lives are wasted struggling to keep their heads above the waterline working day in day out like slaves for years on end with no break, no vacation. They have no time for anything, eat very unhealthy, are left on their own, are poorly educated and have little sense of community. A lot of people are deeply unhappy and something is fundamentally wrong with the American lifestyle. It is all a bit fucked up.
