>you're entire music "collection" on a streaming app you're forced to listen to commercials for or pay the goyfee every month just for no commercials
>its servers go down or your phone/PC bricks, you have no music

Remember in the 90s when you'd actually buy music in a store and there were no commercials ever? You paid cash for the CD/record and that was it. The idea that you'd pay money per month to listen to music with no commercials would have been considered ludicrous.

It's like bottled water. No one believed bottled water would be successful because water is everywhere and free - but the bottled water merchants proved people value convenience over quality.

Yeah you'd have no music if you had individual files on your phone or PC either.
>But muh CDs
My main spotify playlist has 3000 songs in it, and I listen to thousands of other songs not in that playlist too. At any time, anywhere. I can download songs to my phone to listen offline as well. I can find music based on the music I already listen to. I can see the lyrics.
Spotify is a good service. Just because something is a subscription doesn't automatically make it bad. Now go ahead and call me a goy, NPC, normie or whatever.

something like that or similar.

You can rip your own CDs too and put them on navidrome which is a fork of subsonic. Works with most hardware media players too, all of these things are free and open source. Unless you buy your music DRM free don't bother paying anymore.

>>
>>538582763
Yeah we should return to buying music. Music quality would increase because artists and producers would make more. I‘d rather have a thousand great songs I can listen to forever than being able to choose between millions of songs
>>
>>538582763
You can still do this. It's a choice of convenience more than anything, for me anyway. I have a shitload of old CDs, some I burned in like 2001 that still work kek
>>
>>538582763
I still buy CDs and rip them into my own MP3s with my ps3. Whatever else I need, I rip into MP3 straight off of youtube using a media grabber app. I also sub to spotify just for the extra options and the sound quality is better when you sub, so... don't be a poorfag. If you're into CDs, look into SHM-CDs from Japan. The quality is top tier and even the MP3 rips are better from an SHM-CD.

Just let my subscription expire. I recently got an older car with a CD player. Slowly collecting a library. They only cost $2 at most thrift stores. I got motivated to dig out my old iPod and torrent the albums I haven't found yet. Don't miss Spotify in the slightest.

No.)

Even the fact that you are curating is a loss. You're just grooming yourself into some obscure tranny discord of hyperspecific algoslop songs. Radio is free and takes no effort and connects you to your local community, and the songs are better than algoslop

>>
>>538598390
I use radio sometimes, but radios here only play the local music during the night (60% of the transmission have to be local music) so they jam their local songs throughout then night while they play western trash during the day to be popular

People use spotify so that they are freed from the decision of what song to listen to next. That's it, that's the entire thing. There's nothing stopping them from pirating music and listening to entire albums. They don't want to do that.

It's not really about convenience, for the reasons OP listed. It's actually annoying and inconvenient that they charge money or have ads and you have to listen in their app. It's 100% about not having to make a decision, not having to THINK. People hate consciousness more than anything else, hence the popularity of drugs and algorithmic feeds.

The entire music buying experience was a commercialized shitshow back then. That's why there was so much angst about selling out. The peak CD era you're nostalgically looking back on was the death of music. You think it was more "authentic" because people got their music from what labels paid to show on MTV and prime time radio slots instead of an algorithm? It was the same labels calling the shots. You turned on MTV and saw music videos labels paid to air. You went to the music store and saw posters labels paid to have hung in the windows, and "featured" CDs they paid to place at the front of the shop. You'd open your new CD and 5 insert leaflet ads would spill out telling you all about upcoming albums from the hottest new bands all the cool kids were listening too. All ads all the time.

If you sub, you can share your playlists on your profile page. Many dating sites are connected to spotify also, so you get pussy points there as well. It's hardly the best way to access music, but as I said earlier, most normies are there so it's worth the minimal monthly amount from me. Still, if you're an audiophile, CDs, particularly SHM-CD is the way to go.
