The first time I saw a black person was in primary school. I was 9 years old. There were two of them, one called Ooche(?) and the other called Frank (with an "a" like "ahh"), one from Cameroon and the other from who knows where. Ooche was nice and told me what rats tasted like so I decided to befriend Frank too, who punched me in the face and tried to steal my gameboy. I got in trouble because Frank didn't understand how things worked here and as far as I saw he never did, though I got back at him after so I considered it even anyway. Later I got into a fight with another kid for cutting my friend in line for a bouncy castle. It was normal to get into fights but this time was different, instead of being berated in front of the class I was taken aside by the principal who was told I had called the boy a Paki. Of course I didn't know what a "Paki" was but I soon learned. Over my life as I've interacted more with nonwhites I've seen the exact patter play over and over; they will take advantage of a system rigged against us. I was less radicalized and more raised aware. If anything the "blame the white, spare the brown" mentality that pervades our institutions is the real radical thought.
