i expect nothing less from vertical video recorders
>see video
okay, thats clearly glowies censoring

gear is definitely not extended
good angle, probably still could control flight path
both luck and skill, i guess

I can't find any actual video of the landing
I wonder why that retard cut off the kino part, it's not like it's military secret kek

actually i do have a few questions
>fuel dumped?
>isnt there a literal fuel tank on the bottom?
>risk a ball of fire, because no ejection at all or ejection malfunction too?
>would there be anything better to crashland into, instead of tarmac runway?
i thought water, but probably capsize, mechanical strain and break apart in thousands of pieces
soft grass probably has too many level irregularities, ergo fireball ending

uhm... yeah, holy shit
>>
>>538632900
Yes I read that he dumped the fuel but the whole ordeal seems to have been fuel related

>According to initial reports, the most likely cause was a mechanical failure that sparked a fire—possibly a fuel leak.
>The pilot identified the problem, shut down the engine, and executed a gear-up landing, as the landing gear failed to deploy.
>He performed a belly landing onto a layer of foam that firefighters had laid down on the runway as a precaution.

>isnt there a literal fuel tank on the bottom?
dropped the tanks or the werent installed, it seems

cannot unsee
no offense, burgers, but youve definitely made 'prettier' ones

Why do Americans make such junk airplanes?
>>
>>538633124
>no offense, burgers, but youve definitely made 'prettier' ones
it looks like a jet turbine engine you designed and then haphazardly dropped some fighter jet design onto, that you happened to find in a drawer somewhere
jogging my memory, i think the inital powertrain turned out to be underdimensioned or something
>>538633074
>a layer of foam that firefighters had laid down on the runway as a precaution
that probably helped a lot
not just that it can absord more of the heat, but the longer distance youll slide means less crass deacceleration hence less crass friction

>$100-$200 million down the drain
At least they saved another $100 million in life time costs. Just buy a gripen or Chinese. America sucks.

>fat girl angle shot
yeah, im THAT old
designed in the late 70s and early 80s
not bad for the time
its not like CAD was standard then, as it is now
>>538633578
>the inital powertrain turned out to be underdimensioned
*intake, it actualy was i think, and *powerplant is what i erroneously meant
nevertheless, there are versions with engine upgrades, not sure if theyre standard or customer-specific

pretty sure /b/ was calling it fgas before myspace angles

doesnt that run in the same price range, in the most up to date version

what is that landing gear
what is that two-seater cockpit and glass

not quite sure about that one, cap
i thought fighter jets drop like rocks once the engines out
and he got all the way to the runway on inertia alone is the implication
on other hand, it could be true if gear deployment requires active engine
