That's comfy, I want to go back. My first professional job as a financial analyst associate in 2010 I had my own private cubicle and every job or promotion thereafter came with a private cube or office until about 2017 when everything went woke and faggot zoomers entered the professional world. Open workspace, pampered feelings, and "collaborative" environments for the sake of making work "fun" ruined the office environment and destroyed hierarchical respect in the workplace. Having, executives, managing partners, or anyone responsible for managing others sit next to some shithead intern or junior associates is fucking retarded, this concept was no doubt devised by some stupid foid CEO or HR roastie. Staff should fear senior leadership and respect their authority not think of them as their bro and have a smartass diarrhea mouth response to every question or comment. I resigned for having absolutely zero privacy in the workplace and an organization wide complete lack of respect for personal boundaries at the last open seating arrangement shop. Finally things are returning to normal at as an executive director I have a comfy private office again where I mostly spend my time shit posting on /pol/ and front running investment strategies. I make it a point to walk the floor three or four times a day to check on the shitstain staff and see who is at their desk working or off fingerpopping their assholes in the break room abusing the complimentary refreshments and snacks.

TRVKE

I worked in an office from 2017 to 2021 and when I first got there, they still had really old cubicles with tall walls between them. Then some HR retard got the idea to go with the modernized (((open))) cubicles and it was fucking terrible. You had no privacy and everyone was watching everyone else all the time, like a panopticon type effect. Anyone who supports this type of arrangement deserves to be dragged out into the streets and hanged
>>
>>538649020

They literally made excel spreadsheets and entered paperwork by hand into the computer. Decent pay too. I'll make any office fag run right back in a day. I made my old boss take a weeks vacation after he thought he could compete with me. He said, in front of people, "I can do that all day Anon, it's not that bad." So I agreed, "Yeah it's really not that bad, to do for a day. I do it every single day, and have for 2 years. Most people don't last a week." "Anon, do I need to go out there and show you guys how to work?" I knew I had his ass at this point so I made it playful and said, "For more than a day?" He was a great guy. He handled it for the week, but he wasn't used to doing it so he was sore, took the next week off. We have engineers come down and do stuff for a day, or for a week and pretend they can handle it, but physical labor takes a bit of character. That's why these pussies cook burgers and serve drinks. Those are women's jobs, where they used to be able to work and find a decent husband. Feminism lol

This movie is basically set in North Dallas, Irving, and Las Colinas.
Same guy that did Idiocracy.
I was living in North Dallas and working IT jobs out in Las Colinas at the time. I felt this dude's angst. I did not, however, get to fuck that vampire Jennifer Anniston.

BTW, for you youngsters. GenX basically had prime pussy on tap. They actually enjoyed going out and meeting new people and having drinks and dancing and hooking up.
Woke, or "Political Correctness" was a concept that was tried on us and then laughed out of the room. So much so that they made movies like "PCU" about a university with a culture identical to one you'd find now. They spent the whole movie clowning on the very concept.

We took psychedelics and went to big music festivals and had fun with strangers.

Young people now would live in their closet with their phone plugged directly into their asshole if they could figure out a way.

Z and Alpha will never fully understand it. The powers that be will never let it happen again.

We're not Generation X. We're Generation Fuck You.

90's tech companies generally had a big game room upstairs somewhere. One I worked at had a gaming LAN set up with CounterStrike and some other stuff, along with bronze age arcade machines like Golden Axe and Galaga. There also was generally a fooseball table and a ping pong table in most of them.

I guess those benefits transformed into the wasteful HR Roastie shit like free omelette bars and clitoral massages.

Dude! Office puss was the best.
As a young, fit desktop support/server admin, you're up in all the ladys' shit being the hero all the times. I've literally bounced switch ports to generate a helpdesk ticket to go to some admins' desk.

One of the highlights was fucking an accounting admin in the 4th floor corner conference room late at night. The room was glass walls and overlooked the Dallas North Tollway. It was late and we were very margarita drunk. Halfway through, a fucking print job kicked off on the big printer right outside. :D We finished up and hightailed it OUT!

Good times, man. I miss those days.

That lines up with my experience. My first "computer" job was sweeping up in the repair shop of a little tiny computer store in Richardson Texas in 1992, just down the street from the Telecom Corridor.

I wound up working on pretty much every carrier's network except AT&T. I eventually wound up at Cisco as a red then a blue badge. Left and went back a few times.

Now, I work remote for a company that does service provider shit, but I'm remote. I live far in the country with my dogs and cats on a piece of land with trees and a hill.

I didn't "make it", but I at least escaped Lumburgh. If you could promise me cube life would be like it was in the 90's, I'd go back.

Pic related was a movie about a Gen X guy who had everything the typical Millennial will never have (wife, kids, good job, house in a good neighborhood) but still felt this existential angst of
>I'm stiill unfulfilled; mustn't there be MORE to life?
And instead of doing something like volunteering at an animal shelter, raising money for veterans, or just spending more time with his kids, he fucks his life up to spite himself.
And this movie actually resonated with Xers (at least the men).

Makes me so glad I had the balls to follow my passion instead of falling into line like everyone else in my nerd clique in high school. The middle class "American Dream" of working a comfy job for 40 years and then enjoying retirement is horseshit. That world turns you into a zombie and only spits you out when it knows you'll be dead soon so it doesn't have to pay your pension for long. I basically live paycheck to paycheck on gig work, but if I wake up on a given day and just don't feel like working, nothing bad happens to me. I won't have a retirement and I'll be working for the rest of my life, but fuck it. I'll find gig work that I can do when I'm old.

I worked an office job through my twenties, did a training gig, got a supervisory position in different job in 2005 at age 29.
>wasnt it just so much better than things are now?
No, people were just as retarded then.
Are you fucking kidding?
I remember that, whenever you needed a large check to go out, you'd have to go upstairs to pick it up personally from the accounts payable department, but with no electronic signatures.
So you'd have to visit at least 2 VP-level personnel or the one C-suite exec who was in the office that day.
So what happened was every other time I'd walk in on this one director of multiple departments, who was undoubtedly making six figures base salary, he'd be playing this >>538647187

> I would go back

I was born in 95, but one of the fleeting memories I still have of the late 90s/very early 2000s was driving with my dad in our old F250 through rural upstate New York (looked exactly like pic related), windows down on the way to a property he was thinking of buying, with Tennessee Stud by Hank Williams Jr. playing in the cassette player. I don’t know why that’s stayed in my mind, but it did. Old country music was obviously better than the repackaged hip hop with fake acoustic guitars today, but something about 80s-90s country in particular makes it my favorite

Society was better when CRT tech for displays was the norm. To access a TV/Computer you had to have adult men lift a heavy as shit screen into place. Only 1 TV and 1 computer in the household. Had to be shared.

The introduction of flat panel/LCD tech being inferior and allowing everyone to have a phone computer in their pocket is what actually destroyed the world. It allowed 3rd worlders, women and normies all to access the internet which before then was just for nerds and smart people. Videogames online had no jeets or chinese or russians in them, just americans.

Steve Jobs literally was the great satan of our societal decline.

If I was president of the world tommorow I would outlaw by penalty of death any LCD/flat screen owned by anyone not a library or government institution or university or hospital. Only these places should have flat/lcd panel tech.

Normies and regular people to watch TV and access the internet need to have a giant command centre wooden desk with a big bulky monitor that requires a man in the house to lift and move. I would also mandate all of the middle east, india, pakistan africa etc be put on their own separate internet away from everyone else. Completely different cables and servers and not allowed to enter into ours, they are cordoned off.

Society would improve drastically.

No more sleeping on a cot and carrying a rifle. Just typing emails and collecting a salary. Soul sucking in its own way, but infinitely better than all the other hard as fuck shit that paid minimum wage I thought I'd never escape. Even that I've escaped eventually into maybe the best job a guy can have in this world, but office work is not that bad.

I read Chuck’s book. Also the movie was produced by a mossad agent in a large decades long push to propagandize Americans.

An easy, nearly stress-free job where you got to mingle with buddies and potentially bang office qts?

I had an office job and it was the best one I've had. I never had more friends or ease of money coming in. It wasn't even work, my job was to look busy. I was a professional look busier.

It still is. I've worked a lot of different jobs before settling on carpentry and none of them were even half as hellish as being an intern at a tech company's hardware cert lab back in my college years when I was majoring in comp sci. The lab work was actually kind of interesting but being the intern I always got stuck setting up new machines for people and I spent a lot of time in the (this is back in the 90s mind you) Indian infested BO smelling insanely cluttered and messy cubicle farm. I hate them more than you can possibly imagine. They are demons, and the picture you posted is literally a picture of Hell itself.
>>
>>538654372
This. Nothing will fuck you up worse physically than just sitting in a chair all day, except maybe being a bricklayer or something.
I'm grateful to work in a grey collar industry where managers have to actually get out and do shit instead of just sitting on their asses doing desk work.

u also had drugs and stuff
every second person was in a band (as there was plenty of place to rehearse in) or otherwise did artsy stuff (as he/she could afford to have a room or a garage or a shed set aside for that stuff)
also all the "subreddits" had real life spaces to meet up, and conferences etc.
not to mention that you had internet with all kinds of mailing lists, forums, and webrings
there was plenty

Have you actually seen the movie? The guy's job is downright evil helping the auto industry get away with killing people. That's why he can beat up his boss, he has so much dirt on them.

Chuck is a faggot.

Likewise in Office Space everyone is getting replaced with foreign overseas workers, and there's a mind-numbing bureaucracy of TPS reports and eight different bosses to yell at you if you use the old cover letter.

It's clean, safe, quiet, modern, equipped, stable, and consistent.
Many of these preparations align with the most ancient and precious of human practices: **preparing an area for sex.**
Think about the anger you might feel when a thoroughly-prepared sex-having area is violated, sullied, intruded upon by others.
Your genetic memory, your instinct, surges anger from a woman screeching to defend your tribe. Rises anger for an intruder in a sacred area. The same as many other instinct-level reactions among all humans and animals.
It is easy to end the "hellish" aspects, if you recognize their source as being the defilement of a prepared sex-having area.
All you need to do is get to know your coworkers, strolling/exploring the area frequently, and upset your own routines.
Knowing your coworkers means less "intruder" attribution; strolling/exploring ingrains the space as living rather than sitting still; and having no routines means no violation of your practices.
These very simple small changes mute unconscious instinctual attribution while giving you the best working environment you could ask for.

(But most people are NPCs incapable of thinking why things are the way they are, why they feel the way they do, what they could change to make things better. They just see the world as it is, not understanding it.)

TLDR your instinct deems a clean office as a sex-having space, violated by others; a few small specific easy behaviors remove that instinctual attribution aka make the space not hell.

What's funny is I first saw him in the Negotiator
*spoiler ahead*
where he switches to an evil creep at the end as he betrays the main character, now before I knew what he was like as a person I thought he was an amazing actor in how he could essentially play himself as a good guy and then pretend to be such an evil fucking creep at the end, whereas in reality the first 95% of the movie is the actual pretending to be good and then he simply plays himself at the end.

Cubicles were cozy as fuck and it's unbelievable GenX faggots cried about it so much. "Wahhhh I don't get an actual office" no fucking shit, it isn't economically viable for every piece of shit pleb worker to get their own dedicated office. My first job was IT help desk and I had a very similar cubicle to the ones pictured and I loved it. Plenty of privacy to fuck off and play games half the time, didn't have to hear coworkers calls or anything either. Has my own little coffee maker since we could keep one small appliance at our desk.

Instead today everyone now has open offices which are gay and dystopian feminized humiliation ritual. Fucking GenX faggots.

I don't think you get how depressing being more than 20 feet away from a window is, with no natural light and only florescent trash light in your space. Open offices suck, and you might catch a cold or something once in a while, but the stagnant airflow and seasonal depression hell of a cubicle farm will actually make you sick

Fucking gay faggot movie. GenX = whiny faggot nihilists who didn't know how good we had it. Literally crying during the absolute peak of Western civilization. Half of genX 90s movies were "I wish I wuz a very special boy who could escape da system". Even the cubicle hatred of GenXers is just them bitching and moaning that they aren't special enough to have their own private office. Fucking faggots
