In Hitlers time people weren't waiting around for a Hitler to come and save everyone, in fact it wasn't even certain that Hitler would be leader and head of the Nazi party, there were a lot of contenders. What Hitler did was fight for his ideals just as he had always done like why he had killed enemy men he respected in world war 1. Later on through the power of organization and friendship gathered with like minded people all of which gradually over time kept trying to rally supporters to the cause with debates, political rallies and so on up to the point he got arrested in an attempt at stopping his rise where he wrote me in kampf and the rest is history. Eventually he demanded loyalty to the fuhrer as an individual person but in the beginning he was only asking the people to save themselves by voting for the only person who wanted to save them. Not for personal wealth but because it's what he thought was right
