I'm Lebanese Christian, so the average Westerner won't get the lore firsthand.Hamas and the Shia Axis were enemies on the battleground in Syria. The Lebanese Shias sided with Assad while Palestinian Hamas sided with the rebels openly. The Syrian conflict was the decisive war that decided if the Shia Axis would prevail or not. If Assad were to fall, then Iran would not be able to reach Lebanon through Syria as they did beforehand and most important of all, it would mean Israel gets to fly over Syria to bomb targets in Iran and Iraq whenever they want.
