Baltimore, Maryland — On July 5, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Baltimore Police Department's Aviation Unit (“Foxtrot") located a vehicle reported stolen in a carjacking in Baltimore County and alerted officers with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) of the location of the vehicle. Foxtrot followed the vehicle with marked units on the ground close by. Multiple officers stopped the vehicle in the 3300 block of Clifton Avenue. Officers issued multiple commands to the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver refused officers’ commands and locked himself inside. An officer was preparing to break the car window when another saw a gun and called it out, at which time officers discharged their service weapons, striking the driver. Officers rendered medical aid until emergency medical services took over care. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. No officers were injured. A BB gun was recovered from the vehicle. The decedent was identified as 42-year-old Maurice Daniels of Millersville, Maryland.
