So why can't someone just design appealing prefabricated homes with precisely engineered interlocking pieces to ensure that they're properly made every single time. Like Lego pieces. They are popular where land is cheap but most land boomers want to live on is extremely expensive. When boomers spend $300K for a lot then another $100K for permits to build they don't want the "lesser" house. Now if it were me personally I'd buy land up in the mountains and plop a trailer on it but that will never happen.

America used to have them, one was called Sears and Roebuck and had a massive factory showroom in Chicago, which actually still exists but is mostly an empty building now. Occasionally old Sears and Roebuck houses are for sale on Zillow, and they're good quality houses.
