How did Mua'dib manage to genocide 61 billion people and sterilize 90 planets in 12 years using only 2 million sword wielding sandniggers from planet dunecoon?

If you strangle someone it takes 10-15 minutes for permanent brain damage, so around 15 minutes to kill them.
4 per hour
32 per work day
160 per work week
480 per month, say 500 because you love your job
That's 6000 per year, per person.
You can do the math from here.
>>
>>538708734
if anything sterilizing 90 planets and killing 61 billion means the population densities per planet are incredibly low
that's less than 700,000,000 per planet

Cool book. The idea was a military upbringing of superior quality combined with eugenics could produce soldiers who easily dispatch their lessers without many losses, due to the nature of shield and dagger fighting.
ofc they were never as good as the bene gesserit's breeds.

Book was never about promoting LSD like these new movies.
Duke Leto rescuing the crew of the spice trawler scene could have been taken nearly word for word for the book. But in Hollywood they just turned it into "LMAO Paul is getting all high off the spice! His power level is rising."

Lame and subversive. I only watched the first film, and it was the first movie I've watched in ages. The war visuals were nice, it was total trash otherwise.

the jews show up in book 5, i can't remember if it comes out in book 6 or in books 7/8 but they ended up being shapeshifting face dancers and they killed them. If it was in 7 I'm sure it was out of Frank's notes, his basedboy son wouldn't have pulled that. But yeah the entire "wowowow look member all these guys from the first books? they're back!!" plot point was kind of retarded. and obviously the brian books are an abomination and there is no way the main thrust of that story was out of his dad's notes.
>>
>>538713180
>But hey, at least it's not actually meant to be taken seriously
Because W40K started as a wacky dark comedy of a setting, in the style of 2000 AD comics. I use the comparison here for a reason.
Herbert was simply a bad writer. Or rather a good writer dealing with something that was far beyond his capabilities. World building left completely up to the imagination while the fucker just skips from one scene to another.

miltech stagnated because they had an eternal holy roman empire scenario but without any external parties, and because one guild controlled all interstellar travel, and any technology designed to circumvent this was banned on a deep religious-superstition level.

Do you think the HRE would have advanced if the Emperor and guilds didn't have to contend with France and other external powers? It's a similar deal in China, during periods of Chinese hegemony, Chinese military technology did not tend to advance because there was no point in it. In fact it risked destabilizing the empire and its tributary states, so it was actively discouraged. The most famous scenario was the Ming purposefully banning maritime trade in the 14th century, largely because it was empowering both merchants and pirates both of whom undermined the power of nobility.

Then you had Leto purposefully fostering human stagnation. In books 5 and 6 the technology is different and more advanced because Leto purposefully shattered the political system after spending centuries at its logical conclusion of neo-oriental despotism.

It's impossible to have a medieval stagnation when the environment is already saturated with technology.
Every single thing you have is a product coming from the top of a huge pyramid made of industry and services.
It's already wrong in case of arrakis. It may be the most backward place in the universe and the population may be kept in such state on purpose just like nigger miners in Africa, but even African shitholes have a modern downtown.
It gets worse when Herbert mentions Caladan rice farmers using anti- gravity sticks. A fucking medieval chink farmer with an anti- gravity stick.

If you wanna argue against the later books of the series, sure, go ahead. Indeed, like so much sci-fi it just becomes imaginative farts. Cyborg tigers, cloning, and apparently rice farmers with anti-gravity sticks. In the end Herbert wanted more shekels so he wrote more stuff then handed off the franchise.

The first book is special. And i won't say it's "special to me." it is a very cool book, period.

Vasily Blokhin personally carried out thousands of executions, often using German-made Walther pistols to avoid jamming and to deflect blame onto the Nazis. His most notorious episode was in 1940, when he executed roughly 7,000 Polish officers and intellectuals over 28 nights, averaging about 250 killings per night in a soundproof basement. He wore a leather apron and gloves, treating the process like grim factory work, and his efficiency earned him decorations from the Soviet state.

Blokhin’s methods were chillingly bureaucratic: victims were led into a chamber, shot in the back of the head, and their bodies removed through a secondary door to waiting trucks. This conveyor-like system reflected the industrial scale of Stalinist repression. Beyond Katyn, Blokhin oversaw executions during the Great Purge, targeting military leaders, political opponents, and ordinary citizens accused of disloyalty. His career illustrates how authoritarian regimes weaponized individuals to embody systemic terror.

He killed an estimated 25,000 people personally.(median)

So the numbers just about work out, if every single one of them were about like Vasily.

That being said, many of the deaths were likely second and third order effects rather than primary ones.

Villeneuve calls the movies Part 1, Part 2 etc to sidestep any need to stick to the original book form...It's gonna bite him in the ass if he makes it all the way to Heretics/Chapterhouse.

Not great, not terrible. But bear in mind that not all books are translatable to film without leaving massive plot holes or simply ignoring entire characters and subplots.

If he actually mentions the space Jews I will respect him for not shying away from what clearly became the most sensitive topic of the novels over time. I don't even care if they're portrayed in a good or bad light, I'll be impressed that he showed them.

He won't, watch Part IV or Part V be the ultimate ending with the death of the worm god. That's safe territory and a convenient ending point, beyond that he might be approached and politely "asked" to end it there. We won't know for a while ofc.
>>
>>538708734
Just here to say in this DUNE thread that the SCI FI channel which became SCI FY or whatever's miniseries of Dune and Children of Dune are the absolute best versions to this day despite dated CGI. The old Lynch version is OK but the new versions sucks fucking ass.

I remember in the scene with the box in the new version and they didn't even have Paul fucking pray whilst doing it. I told my wife at that exact moment that the entire new movies would be shit as the prayer was integral to the fact of who Paul was and that his mother covertly trained him in the ways of the Bene Gesserit

Ah yes because some guy who turned himself into a giant worm and started selectively breeding a specific line of people with a single man over and over again is somehow good writing. The more and more you go into the series, the more and more Herbert's weird fetishes are exposed. It climaxes in I think Chapterhouse where a young version of I think the same guy (possibly Herbert's self insert) defeats a member of a sex cult in sex and describes it in graphic detail.
>>
>>538719432

I read the series for the first time in middle school, her naked sword training scene in Dune Messiah was a sort of sexual awakening for me; absolute diamonds. Also, Heil Hitler. I love how Herbert alludes to the fact that Paul is directly descended from ol' Uncle Addie and actually manages to humanize him to some degree, something most Boomer sci-fi writers were completely incapable of.
