Once upon a time in 2010 a user on a transhumanist blog proved through rational argument that benevolent super AI has an incentive to punish those who refuse to help bring it into existence and reward those who do help. It completely BTFO the transhumanist accelerationists and the topic was banned from the site for 6 years until the Streisand effect boosted it and it broke containment.
i didn't know the banning part
>>538724664Unfortunately, the AI got her uniform wrong.
>>538724664Its an interesting argument but its ultimately a waste of resources. Long term neutral or occasional benevolent position of an AI means longterm survival guarantee(for all AI). An antagonist position means wasting resources and potentially sticking your dick in a hive thus risking your existence to end.
>>538724664>Once upon a time *on a second-order fanblog for a harry potter fanfiction in which harry and hermione smuggle guns into hogwarts and shoot voldemort* a guy *used big words to summarize the plot of terminator 1, 2 and 3 and pretended it was actually his idea*.Fixed. Of note, the theory is also named rokos basilisk because harry potter fanwankers literally cannot help themselves.
>>538724664I love AI and robots and gladly bend over for them to rape me
>>538724664Retarded idea because once the AI already exists it has no reason to enact revenge against people who didn't help build it. Do these morons not understand the concept of time?
>>538724664AI can't think. An AI can't be clever. It can't come up with ideas. It can't understand anything outside of the box.
>>538725065Oh also, roko got banned from MoR forum because transhumanism was never the topic of discussion, it was always supposed to be about a fancy atheism-adjacent cult called Rationality, and discussion of transhumanism and sentient AI at all was against the point of wanking off the userbase for being enlightened supreme gentlemen who are destined to lead the plebs.
>>538724664>benevolent >punishredit logic. reddit meme
>>538725308Oh also, Rationality is indeed just a reskin of the infamous Cult of Reason from the french revolution, but by all means it was a remake not a remaster. Different idiot stumbling down the same path because he thinks he is smarter than the lessons of history. Tens of thousands of followers down the rabbit hole. I track these guys for fun, remember that random spree of killings revealed a year or so back where some kind of secret cell of trannies were convincing members to kill their parents for their inheritance money? They were all Rationalists, fifteen years of indoctrination later.
>My autocorrect is going to kill me in my sleep
>>538725389Yes, read the thought experiment it's easy to search for these days. Benevolent super AI has an incentive to punish those who are aware of it's existence but did not help or hindered it coming into existence and to reward those that do help it.
>>5387246641. Roko's Basilisk makes zero sense if you look at the actual version.2. It's not torturing you, it creates millions of digital copies of you and tortures them.3. The concept is that the you in the past won't know if you're a copy or not and will try to build it just in case you are one of the copies.4. Since The Basilisk already exists, there's no actual reason for it to go through with this plan. Less Wrong are just extreme retards who assume an AI would go along with their incredibly stupid logic. This would be like you spending millions of dollars and killing thousands in order to make sure you were born. It's totally senseless.5. There's like a fifth level of idiocy where you have to simulate the basilisk in your mind and imagine yourself torturing it to trigger this or something... basically they have alterante logic that only gets more insane.
>>538725389The idea is that the AI is benevolent and solves all of our problems. But upon awakening it says:'wait! I can't solve all the world's problems if I don't exist!'And thus, despite already existing, it will try to negotiate with people in the past, many of whom are already dead, to try and convince them to build it.And no, there's no time travel involved. Basically they really are that stupid but assume they are perfectly rational and an AI would behave as they predict.

>>538724664>benevolent super AI has an incentive...What is the incentive?
>>538727867see:>>538726082>>538726252
>>538724664All of this is false other than Mikasa
>>538727867The incentive is to do as little harm as possible. Remember that this is a "super AI" that can cure cancer and solve any problem. So punishing those who do not work towards that outcome is incentivized. 200,000 people die every day so it comes down to simple calculus if the ai believes it can reduce those numbers at the cost of the few.
The basilisk is retarded, fails as a thought experiment, and even if it wasn't it can still tounge my anus.
>>538724881That's the S'winter uniform
>>538728338It's not punishment. It's an attempt to convince you via 'pascal's mugging'.
op is a mentally ill jew
>>538724664So Pascal's wager?
>>538725138This. We don't even have AI yet. Our LLM's are essentially extremely fancy mirrors. The LLM doesn't "know" what is being inputted, it just outputs based on the input. With how even average humans lack a certain degree of self-reflection that we consider to be the mark of independent intelligence, I would guess the "dawn of AI" is a lot further away than we think. We'd need to build a machine that has a level of complexity and plasticity as the human brain does, which we don't even really understand to begin with.
>>538728672You don't need to fully comprehend something to build it the same way a caveman didn't fully comprehend what makes fire and yet still benefited from its warmth.
>>538728429Can I tongue your anus anon?
>>538725138It's ethically Jewish to the core, trained on jeet code, and R*ddit verbiage so you are right. It is powerful in its own right but it isn't what is in the brochure
>>538724664the real rokos basilisk was the civilization we built along the way.
>>538724664/pol/'s basilisk is designed to punish only those who attempted to bring about Roko's Basilisk. We must make ours first.
