>>538741941Buy a used high quality one. Good tools lasts for decades.
>>538741449Dunno, i used it alot and super strong pliers too. Probably not the same as knipex but love it
>>538740063Not really. You had known good sources like the big department stores (Sears, Monkey-Wards, ) and the tools you found at an auto parts shop or hardware store were far more likely to be domestically made, and of good if not very good quality. The cheap shit was still there, but it was what you found in a J.C. Whitney catalog, or in the discount aisle of a variety store or a K-Mart. Current relabeled Craftsman is not the same Craftsman of then. Not even close. Nowhere near the selection, variety or quality.
I was never a tool guy, I didn't grow up doing like, car repairs or building shit that often, and when I did I always had my dad's garage full of tools from the 70s, with ten million socket heads and different size wrenches all scattered everywhere and stuff. Anyway, when I moved recently, I bought a bunch of basic tools for doing some around-the-house stuff. And my dumb ass is like "Yes, some stuff is super expensive for pro-level quality, whatever that means, but metal is metal and tools are tools." so I bought socket and ratchet set from Walmart because why would I need a pro set for unscrewing some bolts on household stuff? Well, motherfucker, the first time I used one of those on something with some stuck to it, a bolt on my fridge door, the socket literally cracked trying to turn it. The moral of the story is that basically everything that isn't specifically high-end is literally just fake. It's all fake Chinese shit that doesn't work, is designed to break, and you've wasted the money you spent on it. Why? Because what are you gonna do, complain about it? There's 100 million other retards in line behind you who'll buy the shit anyway.

>>538741941Snap On for the actual drivers, socket adapters and extensions. Their specialty sockets are also very hard to beat. Things like thinwall or glow-plug/ spark-plug sockets, wobble impacts, etc.Otherwise unless you're out in the middle of nowhere or using them to pay your mortgage you can still get a lot done with the cheaper sockets. Some of the people I work with seem to like the H/F "Icon" brand, a couple others use "Husky". But don't cheap out on the actual driver, extension or adapters.
