Does it still work?
>>
>>538744060
Not in england
>>
To be fair, it never worked
>>
No, it requires trust and coercion in a ballance.
Foremost it requires the existence and acceptance of epistemic authority able to generate consensus

Epistemic authority and consesnus no longer exist, that means democracy cannot exist.

Authoritarianism works neither btw, it still requires epistemic authority

>>538744060
"Representative Democracy" is an oxymoron. If "Representatives" rule then the people have no say

Do you have any effects, influence on me? Obviously not, you are a pixel on a screen behind a fucking meme flag in a hyper traibalistic environment. You are delegitimating yourself

it works, but what we have is not democracy. Clue is in the name. A single vote every 4-5 years is not power. A vote every week like they do in Big Brother is how you exercise democracy.

>They define democracy as the government of the people, for the people, by the people. It is none of these things. It is neither by the people, nor of the people, nor for the people.
>The people who have been holding power down the centuries have always been able to persuade people that whatever is being done, is done for their sake. And the people have believed it because they have been trained to believe.
>It is a conspiracy between religion and state to exploit humanity.
>The religion goes on preaching belief and destroys the intelligence of people to question, makes them retarded. And the state goes on exploiting them in every possible way – still managing to keep the people´s support, because the people have been trained to believe, not to question. Any kind of government ― it may be monarchy, it may be aristocracy, it may be democracy, it may be any kind of government.... Just the names change but deep down the reality remains the same.

Define "work". Anything "works" if you have enough bombs and men with guns to enforce it. Every system is just organized violence. Work or not, democracy is a terrible idea and it always has been.

>anything works with enough mercenaries
for the ruin of Italy has been caused by nothing else than by resting all her hopes for many years on mercenaries, and although they formerly made some display and appeared valiant amongst themselves, yet when the foreigners came they showed what they were.

who are they? There are no two ways about defining democracy. People power. This is not happening right now.
>government of the people, for the people, by the people
I personally subscribe to the very small government idea, ideally zero, but there are different flavors.
1. direct participation by everyone = democracy in my book
2. participation by representatives = not a democracy

still there are different shades to 2.
People usually focused on HOW they elect the representatives, but that is a red herring. Although there is a lot to say about the merits of sortition, the important point is the feedback loop. You can not control any process which takes 4-5y to take feedback into account, it will never converge just as >>538744267 said. Imagine you sign up for a job but they can't fire you for 4 years.

Ideally the feedback should be continuous, but certainly much shorter than 4-5 years (let's not even go into EU institutions). The concept was hijacked and rebranded, not people are told to be afraid of real democracy, any talk about is considered extreme

Bro, I live in a country with direct democracy. One of the only ones. It doesn't work. Everyone that votes gets zogged by the media. They're all vaxxed, for fuck's sake. If they can't even be trusted to take the correct decision for themselves, how the fuck can they make the correct decision for their country. This is not rocket science.

If you think that Zelensky can hold open free elections when a portion of Ukraine is under RUssian military occupation then you must have the IQ of a lamp post.
>>
Its called judaism now
>>
>>538745954
you know what works even less? Not being able to participate at all. This is the point where the small government angle comes in. Once you realize everyone is well regarded, you naturally want to minimize their influence on your life.
Unfortunately institutions are much like living organisms, they want to get bigger and bigger, if you don't have safeguards in place they will just consume and expand as much as they can.

So the "democratic" country of Ukraine must be saddled with horrible leadership for the duration of the war? Is that why Zelensky refuses to seek peace?

You know its a scam when there is no democratic country on Earth that has a system that the plebs can use to call a snap election, or to kick out a politician from their post, elected or appointed, before their term is up, or that election promises are treated as commercials just without the

Exactly right. Democracy is always just elite control through obfuscation and using the veneer if legitimacy. The people cannot self-govern and the state is still run by the interests of those who pay. Nevermind the managerial state that arises to keep people operating within the confines of acceptable discourse.
Monarchy with rulers chosen by divine right is preferable.
