Supposedly some of it is slow to extract from storage. And some of is somewhat degraded and would need special processing (for which there's limited capacity).The US must have been preparing for this though. Maybe now they're ready to deal with the difficult parts of the reserve. Some US officials said that they were already replenishing the reserve after the ceasefire. I thought that it would be surprising that there could be any significant difference so quickly while the whole world was already experiencing some shortages or were trying to refill their own reserves. Maybe what they really did was make a larger proportion of the reserve usable. Maybe that's what they were waiting for to restart the war with Iran.
