Even most Christians just believe out of habit or because their family did - they haven't read the Bible nor can they seriously defend their beliefs if challenged.That just doesn't seem right to me.And if you research early Christianity they didn't even agree on core doctrines like the Trinity, the divinity of Jesus, how salvation works, if the unsaved go to eternal conscious torment or simply cease to exist, which books should be included in the Bible as "divinely inspired" vs apocrypha vs heresies, etc.All that was codified by church councils decades or even centuries after Jesus.At that point you're trusting the church councils were guided by God or whatever to make the right decision.But if you look into the lives of the church fathers and early bishops - they had their own biases, rivalries, were affected by political pressures, etc.This is especially problematic for the Protestant denomination I grew up in because they make a big deal about distrusting "Rome" and "the traditions of men".But "Rome" and the "traditions of men" are what produced the biblical cannon and the Nicene Creed lol.
