What are the political implications of getting an electric car?People think gasoline is better. However electric cars require almost no maintenance because it has fewer moving parts that need to be serviced.Electricity is open source and free. You can build a generator yourself. Or get solar panels.Meanwhile with a gas motor car have to rely on big oil, transportation and delivery. You're fucked if oil runs out or rationing is put in place during war time. Why do so many on the right espouse gas motor cars when electric respects your rights as an individual way more?
Electric cars are gay
>>538853724Electric cars are great until you have to pay $10k to replace the battery after 8 years
Get something like a 3-wheeled cargo e-bike as a second car for local neighbourhood commutes and you'll be amazed that the battery only weighs about 2kg and it costs about as much to run as charging a laptop. It makes big heavy cars look ridiculous. And also makes Teslas look ridiculous for making heavy electric cars that weigh even more than petrol cars.
>>538853724they have 4 problems. Low range, insane. price, battery needs replacement after 8 years, long charge times.
>>538853792try driving something other than tesla
>>538853724They suck in places that get incredibly cold which is, y'know, a majority of the first world where they're primarily being sold. Batteries, no matter how advanced, still don't do the whole "winter" thing very well.
>>538853921Just get a heatpump.
Road trips require stopping for coffee breaks every couple of hours instead of just filling the tank and continuing.
>>538853870All batteries need to be replaced after 1000 cycles, thats how lithium works
>>538853724>What are the political implications of getting an electric car?reduced autonomy
>>538854042>reduced autonomyIn what way? You can charge at home, electricity is more abundant and easier to get for the individual than gas is. >You can service your own carElectric cars need barely any servicing because they're much simpler machines and don't have a massive complicated engine that can fuck up at any point.
>>538853724ev's are much cheaper than driving a diesel. 70kwh costs 15 euros here and gets you 400km range which would be around 32 liters of diesel and would cost around 50 euros

>>538854249This
>>538853724>Electricity is open source and freeOnly in mom's basement, zoomer.
>>538859759Anon you can literally turn a crank and generate electricity.
>>538853724You deserve to die, please do whatever you can to accomplish it.
Seriously more deadly amounts of electricity. People going up in smoke. Shade tree mechanics all dead. Now you pay more.
>>538853724Watch out for the built in totalitarianism with new cars. The charging infrastructure is also very locked down (refuse card, want subscription and apps and shit), can't just fill up. Be careful to consider this before buying.
