I unironically live in this area (next county over) and yes it is poor as fuck and also 3/4ths of the population is black.I know this is going to sound crazy but it's honestly not that bad. Yes the blacks here are mostly on welfare but it's a different universe compared to the city. I don't know quite how to describe it but here everyone acts with a certain level of old school southern respect. Yes sir/ma'am that kinda thing. If you go to the local walmart in Selma the on a Sunday many of the local black people were full suits and everything. Old school southern shit There aren't any chimpouts (St Floyd riots were literally non-existent here) and overall whites and blacks mostly have our own social circles anywaysLife is honestly not that bad. Land is cheap you got acres of good productive soil and plenty of water. Biggest plus for me is that it everything here just feels insulated from all the globohomo schizophrenia that afflicts you when living in the trendy areas
