If we don't count Finnic and Siberian languages, I would say Russian. Even when you say "dog poop" it sounds beautiful. It also has some interesting observational concepts, like the words for
>man
>machine
sound almost identical.
It has this mystical element to it, as if it was created so that at least one group of people would /notice/ things. For a Russian woman, a man is nothing but a machine, whose job is to fix things and go to work, and please the woman when she feels like it. Russian women grow up hearing the very similar words, man machine. The language itself brainwashes them and it works without TV or radio or the internet. Now that is a neat trick.

You have no rebuttal. Case serves no purpose other than increasing complexity for no reason. English is the most nuanced and precise language in the world. It has the largest vocabulary and is the most efficient in terms of number of words/characters required to express an idea. Other languages are shit-tier by comparison.

Sure it is. Already fucks up when describing if a person sits in a chair or on a couch. In both cases the person is doing the exact same thing, the only difference is the width and cushioning which isn't very precise. When does a chair become a couch? The funniest moment was when he was still making threads about Euclid's Elements and thought a .gif from Wikipedia represented one of the first proofs in it, unable to see a glaring mistake it contained because he doesn't actually grasp what he's talking about. Out of all the possible flags it was an Israeli one who btfo'd him so hard he largely stopped posting that particular topic.

>The English vocabulary is easily six to ten times larger than any other
Ok I love English but this is just wrong. It has a large vocabulary but it doesn't even break 1 million, and there are many others that can, like Greek, Korean, Arabic, Tamil, and many others that have at least comparably sized vocabularies to English. English is nowhere near "six to ten times larger than any other." We have some comprehensive dictionaries that can be larger than other people's dictionaries, like the standard German dictionary is smaller, but their vocabulary could be considered to be much larger than its dictionary size because of its rules about combining words to make new words. Other languages, like Arabic, have maybe a couple hundred thousand root words but over their literary corpus they have over ten million "unique words" derived from those roots and combinations thereof. English basically has to stretch to create its "massive vocabulary" as well, by incorporating wholesale huge amounts of vocabulary from other languages, creating new compounds, and various unique "coined terms" and so on. Still the biggest English dictionary doesn't even break one million words and if you study Greek from ancient to modern, you might encounter four times that many unique words.

All that said, no language uses all of this "huge vocabulary" for everyday communication. You can be conversationally fluent in English with like 2500 words, and considered "near-native proficiency" with about 10,000. And the same goes for just about any modern language. The literary corpus of different languages might support vocabularies in the millions, but the average speaker of a language rarely even breaks 10,000 unique words.

Anyway don't say such stupid shit, you make us sound like morons. You're just proving the Swede right.

Hilarious, checked
Maybe it's the relative depth of the seat compared to the near proximity of the armrests to your arms that makes you sit in a chair, but the lack of confinement and lack of ability to place both hands on the arm rests that implies the couch is a larger item that you sit on top of, not in.
Maybe if you're a big guy for you then all couches are chairs.
Also, you can say you sat on a chair, it's not improper, the "in" a chair implies that the chair has sufficient depth for you to be encompassed by it. Notice that you don't sit in a stool, but you sit on a car when you're on top of the car, and you sit in a car when you're inside of it.
Something tells me that I'm much more smarter and better and cooler than you are, maybe it's because English is my primary language and your primary dialectic concern is classifying types of snow

English language resembles a computer language the most, even before accounting for coding is done primarily in English. Therefore if we were to attempt to speak to aliens or other NHI, English is just the most neutral and jack-of-all-trades, most modular, and most adaptive language we have. It's really that simple.
What other language comes close to that level of modularity and compartmentalization?
Genuinely curious.
You got shit in like Japanese and Chinese that turns a little symbol into this complex mess that you absolutely can't phonetically feel out because you need this massive trail of prior information. Meanwhile you know the limited range of sounds our vowels and consonants have, allowing you to feel out sentence structure with limited context - allowing you to more readily learn the language as you go.
>Easy to learn, difficult to master
is the name of the game.
>>
>>538914138
Wrong, dumbass. English is anything but phonetic. English has the most fucked spelling system out of any language written in the Roman alphabet.
>>
>>538908824
Gendered words and pronouns are gay though. You should all learn from Estonia. No gendered words, no pronouns, but we’ve replaced that with 13 grammatical cases for words.

>>538911540
the thing is English is the only language where you can turn any word in a verb, noun, adjective, adverb, and vice versa creating a limitless potential of words, unlike any other language.

Sven, you cant be that fuckin naive, are you?

Consider the grammar of math. It has two quantifiers (there exists, for all) and 5 connectives(and, not, or, implies, iff). That's it.

Here's a little thinking exercise for your high IQ. An integer is even if it can be divided by 2. Can you prove the sum of two even integers is even? You literally got everything you need to prove it. Note, the universal quantification: 2+2 = 4, 6+ 2 = 8, 100 + 200 = 300 do not constitute a proof. You have to show the sum holds for EVERY such pair. Well, then consider even integers 2a and 2b for some integers a, b. We have 2a + 2b = 2(a + b). Since a + b is an integer our claim follows.

My point is complicated morphology tests memory. The ability to think is separate.
>>
>>538914558
That's really not unique to English either, it's present in Chinese languages. It's also not unique that English has some method of creating "a limitless potential of words." Other languages like German and Arabic also have methods where you can basically make an infinite variety of words.

I love English, it's my native tongue, but come on. Why do you guys just make stuff up? "It's the ONLY language that does X!" you know there are thousands of living languages, right? English is a useful language that has some nice features which made it easier to use historically as a trade language and make it a good modern "lingua franca" (lol). However, it's got a lot of historical baggage and inconsistencies which gives it a lot of problems as well, and some of those problems are well-known and basically insoluble at this point. For example, we can't "spell things like they are pronounced" because there are tons of accents that all pronounce the same words differently, so people can't agree on how they ought to be spelled if they are spelled "as spoken." The ideal "universal language" would definitely have simple and consistent phonetics. English falls short on that and a number of other things, but it is still an expressive and flexible language that is very adaptable to various modalities and specialized uses. You don't have to make stuff up about how great English is, it has enough good stuff about it that is actually true.
>>
>>538914598
Other languages also have over a million words :)
Some have many times more than English. I already mentioned them in a previous post.
You don't need to make up bullshit about English so you can feel special.
