As opposed to the newest modernization package of the Tomahawk.As for bomb dropping, the US had more advanced technology in terms of guided bombs in Vietnam than Russia did in 2020 and so it made sense to put great emphasis on it. It's extremely cheap and effective when it works. The two problems are that enemy air defense degrades the power of such bombs massively because the airplane has to expose himself to great danger in order to get into position to drop the bomb. Even when you are dealing with glide bombs, you have to get within ~100 km of the contact line when the anti air missile ranges these days can be around 200km. There are many variables here that can mitigate the problem, but the issue persists. The fact that the Russians can drop glide bombs in the dozens or hundreds daily and lose less than 5 Su34s a year means that they have reduced NATO's ability to provide air defence to a negligible factor.Oh and finally, the issue with airplanes is that you need airfields to get good performance out of them.
