Combines all the negatives of living in an apartment and a house.
You need to do all the house maintanance + you can get a shitty neighbour and have no privacy.
>>
>>538925002
I was laughing my butt off watching some house hunters show international. It was mind blowing. I'm shocked they let us watch it.
So this big family in Virginia sells their giant 6bed, 4bath 3 level house on 5 acres to move to England because dudes job.
Hahahahhahahaha
So like the whole family goes to England and they're being shown what's in their price range. They expected something comparable to their home in Virginia... NOT! First off, if your walls are touching the neighbors walls, or too close to do anything in between, you don't have a real house, no matter how many bricks you use. The bedrooms in all the houses were so laughably small, and none had built in closets so they has these free standing cupboards instead taking up a shitload of room. These rooms were big enough for a twin bed and that's it. The main bedroom wasn't much better. Shitty small bathroom that everyone has to share. Laundry room in the FUCKING KITCHEN of all places. And then the pathetic back yard where all the towering brick shitholes just look down right inside.
But hey, they were all brick! You guys don't even fucking know what you're missing. Hahaha, laundry in the fucking kitchen, my God haha.

Having one neighbour is fine. Way better than having fifty and being forced to share communal spaces with them. If you own a house you are also a full blooded landlord rather than some minority shareholder in a commonhold.
>>
>>538925638
Semi detached housing is based. You have the symbolic interaction with the Other. It’s indicative of society.

I always had this question when all the houses look familiar: how to correctly enter your house when you are drunk and not make a mistake by entering your neighbour's hall and immediately starting to piss on the floor?
>>
>>538926880
How young are you? 14? Have you ever been drunk before?
>>
>>538925002
Duplexes are not ideal but fine I guess, but why is the style so hideous? What are they trying to evoke?
>>
>>538925002
we have a lot of those houses too, but I don't really like them. they just look kinda ugly, and usually the whole city they are in looks kinda hideous.

Yeah, but they cost like £80-£160k depending on area (outside London obviously). I have a fully detached 4 bedroom but it cost me £300k

This is a fucking nightmare! Rofl. Germans also love their privacy especially if they have a garden but under no no no circumstances they would do this or allow this to be done! They would have plant things or build nicer and way lower fences to divide the "gardens". Cheesest Christ, what's wrong with you people? Lol lols lols.
>>
>>538927030
I rather like it. Kinda like good ugly. It’s sort of an abstract rendition of traditional textures (tiles, brick, etc), but just in a minimalist way. A simple canvas which invites the freedom of the owner’s expression. Either way it’s cozy. Imagine it’s a drab rainy Saturday and you get stoned and pissed inside that house whilst watching shit films. Very nice.

I really love England, the English people and language and culture. I'm 50/50 Irish more or less but despite being Catholic we were raised to love and respect HRH. We listened to British music and watched British tv, things made in England were associated with quality.

Britain's problems stem partly from the same areas as others: economies run on funny money, headchopper migration ponzi scheme buuut Britain sucks because living in tight cosy urban deanoboxes between greenbelts reinforces the psychology of needing to be polite and reserved to get along. Along with a very rigid class system, and an upper middle class that loathes the working and welfare classes, the weak spot in English culture and thinking was always "we are so tightly packed it's just easier to get along, making a fuss or confronting difficult subjects is akin to dying 1,000 deaths."

In this way the Saxon is like the Japanese.

>>538927727
You have to bear in mind that England alone is approximately 10 times as densely populated as the USA. Take whatever space you/your family has to call their own, add another 9 into it and you'll get a bit of a better feeling of what it's like here. It's why semi-detached houses and deano boxes are so popular.
>>
>>538928043
Only unappealing thing is the moisture and low wages
Otherwise I'd love to live in a country where I'm not irradiated for six months of the year
Despite half my family coming here from Norfolk in 1840, it would be near impossible for me to migrate to the UK

It's a barometer. On many points Americans are the last to lose various freedoms that are chipped away everywhere. But also: no one can take away an American's freedom either, since a significant percentage will literally choose death over compliance.

This is the pretty modest neighborhood I grew up in. It's odd to me since apparently google hasn't updated street view images since 2011, which is just a year after I moved out into my own place.

It's nice, I think, but maybe that's just nostalgia and memories.

Perhaps, but running away somewhere else and making your problems their problems always struck me as a bit of a thirdie mentality. Much better to stick with where I am, warts and all, and try and at least make it a bit better.
>>
>>538925002
It would be nice if there were English people living there instead of BIG BLACK GORILLA NIGGERS, VILE HINDOOS, CHILD EATING MUSLIM BEASTS, NEFARIOUS NOSE NONCES, SCOTSMEN, OBSEQUIOUS HEATHEN CHINEE, AND ASSORTED BROWN AND/OR SLAVIC SUBHUMANS
In all of English history there was probably about a week and a half between the discovery of antibiotics and a blood pogrom caused by a particularly unruly football match where England was a tolerably pleasant plant to live.
While places like India and Africa can rightly be called the festering devil’s asshole of the world, I think England is like the hole in the tip of his throbbing erect cock. It is a small place and by all rights shouldn’t be as wretched as it is, but it inexplicably manages to be a place of endlessly deep horror.
