Is there a reason chinese memory manufacturers would want to lower the price of memory instead of selling it at an inflated price like everyone else?
>>
>>538944081
Chinese are merchant maxxing, pretty stupid imo.

So many opportunities lost in the last few years to fuck up Westoids big time.

Say "thank you, China" for bringing down prices in the face of Western greed and decadence!

You have to understand high level memory was only being made in Taiwan and South Korea by a combined couple of companies.

China has invested in building their own domestic high level memory manufacturing and went from making 0 money to a lot even if they're undercutting the possibly price fixed memory market. Another issue is that they spent billions to build factories and warehouses and now they have to make something to pay that back.

They're charging 5-10% below market price right now, but their capacity coming online is about of triple over the next two years. More supply will alleviate pressure on price.
>>
>>538944081
Yes. It's this thing called capitalism. It's what happens under a legitimate free market. Since not every market is being controlled by government regulatory capture you can have what is called competition.

Unfortunately, the US is going to ban Chinese memory like they did cars and phones so it won't matter.

The objective is to make the largest profit, not the largest margin. A smaller margin at larger volume can be a larger profit.
>>
>>538945639
There is plenty of demand currently despite the margins so the two aren't incompatible.

At what point do we address the CCP agent problem of /pol/? Every other thread is a propaganda thread showing off the chinese ability to steal already invented things (never anything new NEVER lol).

Corsair has been incorporating CXMT memory chips into the Vengeance DDR5 kits since May. CXMT chips cost roughly the same to buy on the wholesale market as chips from American or Korean makers, despite CXMT’s aggressive production. We won't see a decline in price until late 2027.

>would want to lower the price of memory instead of selling it at an inflated price like everyone else?
They want to sell the maximum profit which is both price and volume. Also they gain market share by undercutting. It is worth getting less money upfront in order to get long term contracts and follow
follow-up business.

expensive ram is a forced meme. this is literally 3 seconds of typing into google ddr5 16gb. and youre misrepresenting the idea that ram is expensive. whoever is behind these forced memes is also trying to push physical media like cds and old nintendo cartridges lol. i think its some sort of ai agent array spamming places like 4chan and facebook. you cant even argue with them because its not a person its an ai agent spamming 5 posts a minute while you as a human are replying to 1 of their 5 posts every minute, its like cockroaches or rats. not even effective to step on them because to find them and step on them each individually they would breed faster

>plenty of demand currently despite the margins so the two aren't incompatible.
You traditionally buy from supplier A. Supplier A is reliable with quality control and everything else.

You're not going to switch to supplier B who has unknown quality control and an unknown history in being able to fulfill timely shipments. You're especially not willing to switch to supplier B if they cost the same as A.

But if A is significantly more expensive and is not meeting your volume demands you might be willing to try out supplier B to see if they have a consistent product that can ship a volume of units within a useful timeframe.

Apple needs chips for iPhones and other devices. But Apple does not need to waste money shipping a defective product.

an 128gb set of ddr5 still costs like $4000

but let's examine what amazog has to say about their price history for two by sixteen (2x16) GB RAM totaling to thirty two (32) gigabytes
>>
>>538944148
Maybe they're simply not competent enough to exploit those opportunities or they simply cannot produce the good they claim to be able to in spite of anyone's claims. It takes a $500 million dollar machine produced by only one company to make chips at the scale required for the most recent chips. Even if the Chinese have paperwork, it doesn't mean they can do anything with it. For months many have been spamming this claim that "china will fix everything" for months and it still hasn't happened.

It’s funny too because the ram prices are absolutely inflated, there is no ram “shortage” at all, the ram is literally just sitting in warehouses because the manufacturers don’t want to sell to the plebs. They’re hording memory on the PROMISE that openAI will actually buy as much as they said they would. There’s also the fact they’re engaging in price fixing.

>>538944081
The Chinese are primarily focused on securing a foothold in the market because that will be more profitable in the long term. The prices right now are unsustainably high, sales are actually at their lowest point in decades because no one can afford to drop $500 on some ram sticks. The prices will have to come down eventually and when they do the Chinese will have 30% or more of the market and rake in the profits. There’s also a lot of other things going into it too like the Chinese being interested in cultural victories above all else and forcing everyone to be reliant on them for yet another critical industry etc.

Not financially, but Xinping could order them to do it to keep products affordable, at least for his own people.
>>
>>538944081
When it comes to commerce, chinks approach follows only 3 core principles

1. Outprice the competition (sell cheaper than anyone else even if that comprises quality)
2. Target high demand sectors – (focus on sectors where demand is strongest)
3. Outwork the competition – Put in more hours than anyone else, even if that means enslaving your citizens.

China has been a bro lately.
Can someone explain how letting China sell consumers appropriately priced RAM instead of artificially supply constrained RAM that is being purchased with government money for surveillance data centers not free market capitalism?
>>
>>538944664
They prefer to be called East Taiwan.
Please be sensitive to their cultural differences
>>
>>538944081
Absolutely in their current position. Companies are hesitant to buy from Chinese chip providers. If China makes the price low during a shortage, the companies that don't buy from them won't be able to compete with the ones that do. Once the Chinese chip companies are on approved vendor lists, they'll be considered trusted suppliers in the future.
Even longer-term, they want to become large enough that everyone is relying on them and then use that as a strategic advantage. Do you think the West would still give a fuck about Taiwan if it wasn't for dependency on their semiconductor industry?
>>
>>538943884

Fuck Samsung and the other companies. Chinks made a lot of shit affordable. Quality varies. But I bought a few ddr4 sticks a few years back for an old pc and I've had 0 issues with them. They also innovate on the shit they steal.
