The trades are the ultimate career hack. You have white male mentors, no DEI based promotions, and if you’re unhappy with how much you make you just shift into sales or entrepreneurship or spin up a side business as a handyman or consultant or whatever. There are exactly zero white collar jobs with this kind of career flexibility. I say this as someone who literally works in venture capital btw. In Canada the government pays 75% of their wages for 4 years of apprenticeship, depending on region. And you still get the lump sum grants for them. And those are often larger than what they give for men.
