How can we be sure that society will provide us with a pension in the future?

When GM Motors went bankrupt, a bunch of the former employees lost their pensions.

When the USSR collapsed, millions of pensioners fell into deeper poverty.

When Venezuela was hit by economic crisis, the monthly pension payment given to seniors was only enough to buy food for a few days.

When Zimbabwe's currency underwent hyperinflation, their pensions became completely worthless.

Pic unrelated.

i wrote a reply after going investigate this but have since deleted it. i'm somewhere between 38-55 years of age and i have zero faith i will ever see my 401k money. i am so certain of this that my contributions have stalled. a guy i worked with can't even access his ROTH contributions but he's over 59 1/2 and has already paid the taxes on the contributions. the law is clear on this matter yet it does not change the result. there's books and prophecies on all this shit and it is lining up. don't get too attached to anything
