Humans have a lot of blood and produce way more than they need for daily activities, feeding a family of ticks won't cost you anything and they will love you forever for letting them live with you.
How often are Deers being killed? I'm not saying that the proliferation of ticks doesn't have any fuckery behind it, but it can be mitigated through Deer control.

They have perfected this from millions of years of evolution. They walk slow to fall off the branch.. but even a tick can cover 2-4 inches pretty fast. They somehow sense an animal below them. Smell or heat maybe. You could drop a tick from 40,000 feet in the sky and it would land and survive. Try that with a humatoid.
