Teenagers will face a default midnight social media curfew and stripped-back social media feeds under the British government’s latest crackdown on websites or apps distributing purported information without a license – but they will be able to switch the restrictions off themselves during the testing phase before it is expanded to adults.

Tech secretary Liz Kendall has announced social media platforms will disable auto-play and infinite scroll-style recommendations and restrict overnight access by default for 16 and 17-year-olds, extending protections beyond the government’s currently planned ban on under-16s, subject to digital identity verification. Conspiracy theories questioning the new policy have been widely debunked by experts, causing the government to move forward with its plans.

How long until the "conspiracy theories" are proven correct and the people the government pays to tell the government that all criticism is baseless are proven wrong?

They're already correct, the plan is really dead obvious to anyone already living in a communist country; China, Venezuela, Cuba etc all have a similar system, with China's being the most advanced of them and Cuba just has rolling power cuts most of the time so you almost never hear anyone complain from these countries.

Just think of the worst shithole that leaves no freedoms whatsoever and no choices allowed to be made and you have the plan for the whole of the UK, we are all being infantilised so that it will be easier for them to put us in the digital gulag.

It won't matter.

If you are a Native Person in UK, please come here! Don't stay there, it will be nuked there won't be a UK. Surly you know this by now.

The lites will flee, but they won't make it elsewhere either, but that is not the issue, the issue is people will perish who are still there.

Many will die here, but more will be left. There, there won't be but a handful left. You should come here.

>can opt out by changing account settings

This is some of the dumbest shit we've I've seen yet from these retards. Utterly pointless. Virtually no one is going to sit there and not opt out.

Seems like all failing governments end up becoming tyrannies out of panic. UK is speed running the USSR collapse.

Social media WAS the enshitification. The UK is inadvertently doing something good with this ban.

if you opt-out then you aren't included in the data set. if you don't opt out then you are counted as a success case who accepted the restrictions and altered your behaviour.
>did they try to continue to use the app after a few days of the time-blocks or did they change their behaviour?
allowing the opt-out allows them to manipulate the data results. they won't mention the ones who opted out and call the trial a success.
