My grandmother is a 92 year old German and she's expressed feeling guilt and an inability to "forgive Germany" for the Holocaust. It's actually crazy how hard germans were brainfucked into hating themselves in just a few decades. Probably an intentionally ironic Jewish inversion of the germans natural tendency towards empathy and community support (which was clearly often to a fault, sadly).
