Friendly Reminder:

Falklands had no indigenous population when Europeans arrived. In 1764 the first permanent settlement was established by the French explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville. The islands were named Îles Malouines after Saint-Malo.

British Commodore John Byron claimed the islands in 1765 and established Port Egmont on Saunders Island (West Falkland). Captain John MacBride expanded it into a permanent settlement in 1766. Two rival settlements (French and British) briefly coexisted.

France transferred its settlement to Spain (under the Pacte de Famille). Spain renamed it Puerto Soledad and administered it from Buenos Aires as a garrison.

In 1770 Spain expelled the British from Port Egmont, nearly sparking war. Britain regained it diplomatically in 1771.

In 1774 Britain withdrew from Port Egmont for economic reasons (ahead of the American Revolutionary War), leaving a plaque asserting sovereignty. Spain maintained a garrison at Puerto Soledad until withdrawing it in 1811 due to wars of independence.

1820s–1830s: After Argentine independence, Luis Vernet established a settlement around 1828–1829 at Puerto Soledad/Port Louis with support from Buenos Aires (and initially Britain). It involved sealers, gauchos, and others. In 1831, the USS Lexington raided it over seized US vessels, leading to the departure of most settlers. A brief Argentine garrison followed but faced mutiny.

Britain reasserted control in 1833.
This marked the start of continuous British administration.

HOLY FUCK, THE BRITISH WEREN'T COLONISERS, ONCE, ON THIS TINY ARGENTINAN ISLAND? I TAKE BACK ALL THE BAD THING I SAID ABOUT THESE CUNTS.

It would be like if some island near Scotland belonged to Norway or Sweden because we went there and settled it before you did, would you accept that arraignment?

I don't know maybe just try first not importing a billion Pakistanis before you lay claims to islands 125000 km away ?

>>539038649
I don't think the argument of "we were there first" matters when there is no way of proving that. All land is stolen if you go back far enough.

If you had been there for 300 years and 100% of the island wanted to remain Swedish what right do we have to object. The only "solution" would be to kill everyone on the island and take it, which we wouldn't do since we aren't stupid monkeys. The only valid complaint we would have is the size of territorial waters vs population density. An island of a few thousand doesn't need gigantic fishing areas and Argentina probably has a valid argument to limit Falkland claims on their surrounding waters.

>The Falkland Islands wolf (Dusicyon australis), also known as the warrah or the Falkland Islands fox, was the only native land mammal of the Falkland Islands.[3] This endemic canid became extinct in 1876.

>When Charles Darwin visited the islands in 1833 he found the species present in both West and East Falkland and TAME.

>Darwin's account:
>These wolves are well known, from Byron's account of their tameness and curiosity;

>it was possible to lure the animal with a chunk of meat held in one hand, and kill it with a knife held in the other

Basically a natural friendly doggo like no other and BongJews KILLED IT !!!

>Historically, the British monarchy circumcised their male heirs for a mix of medical fashion, hygiene, and Victorian-era cultural legends. For several generations, the royal family often used the services of a traditional Jewish mohel to perform the procedure

it's crazy when you realise the only argument against this is

>see! in the 1828! it belonged to Argentina! and it's closer to our country anyway!

Madness.

Let's revisit the history of the Islands to educate some terminally online people

First settlers on the Island:

>The French were the very first ones to have a settlement in the island in 1764, the British stablished their own settlement later around 1765. This is well documented.
>In 1767 France ceded its settlement to Spain.

The UK abandons the Islands:

>In 1774, the UK voluntarily leaves this settlement largely for financial reasons during the American colonial crisis, leaving a claim, but not administrative control. Spain remains as the sole administrative settlement.
>From 1774-1811, Spain were the only ones who held control over the Islands.

Argentina gains its independence:

>In 1811, Spain withdrawals from the Island due to the wars of independence. Argentina after gaining its own independence, according to uti possidetis juris international law, inherits all of its former colonial territories, including the islands.
>From 1820 to 1833, Argentina has total control. First stablishing a settlement in 1820 by David Jewett on behalf of Buenos Aires. The second settlement in 1828 by Luis Vernet. Argentina has total possession and starts imposing fishing rights, which made later America raid the islands and attack the Argentinian settlement to free some people who had being jailed.

The UK decides to come again after 37 years:

>In 1833, the UK comes and expels the Argentinian government and the people living there, exerting Imperialism by illegally occupying a former territory that gained independence and is on the other side of the world, while stablishing a military outpost up to this day, illegally according to international law.

Hope this helps clarify why our claim is absolutely legal and rightful, because it is our territory and we held control over it basically since our independence.

The Falkland islands were first spotted by John Davis in 1592. They were first sttled in 1690 by John Strong who built the first building and claimed the land for the crown.

France and Spain have a stronger claim to the islands than Argentina.
