Pride. That's it. They had other reason in the past but that are all irrelevant today. Argentina tried to take it by force and the Brits wanted to show they were still a global power. After putting in that effort, they can't give it up. The funny thing is that if Argentina didn't invade and then get pushed out, the UK probably would have approached them at some point about taking it over or at least administering it. While it's not breaking the national budget, it's still one more drain that the UK would like to not have to pay. It doesn't really have much value for Argentina either except national pride. In a weird way, turning it over to Argentina would be bad for many in the Argentine political class because it wouldn't be a reliable issue they can bang on about when things in Argentina are going poorly. I'll also say that the Brits have a bit of affinity for those cold and dreary rocks because the weather is quite similar to England except even more Englandier, if that make sense.
