The problem with the anti-surveillance thing is the mass surveillance state is needed to prevent certain kinds of really cool crimes. No one is going to do those really cool crimes - as is evidenced by the fact that we've gotten this far as to the mass surveillance network being installed - so the cameras are worth the more mundane crimes they're used to deter.
