All of China's progress on AI comes from distillation attacks on US frontier AI models (they hide behind proxies and query US AI a billion times to determine how it functions). There is no real Chinese AI progress without US AI progress. Same is true for Russia. 60-90% of software used in Russia is pirated. There is no Russian software without US software.
