DESU anon, I'm a lonely incel.
But the luxuries of life in the west make that bearable. I work a job I don't like, sure, but I make this cool stuff called money doing it.
This allows me to have enough of the ONLY THING LEFT that I can still enjoy.
Time to my fucking self.
I don't need to spend hours preparing food - I can just buy ready meals.
I don't need to spend hours repairing clothes - I can just buy some
Because of money, I can sit down in the evenings or my days off and watch something, read something or play something.

The moment that changes, the moment I have to toil in fields sweating and in pain just to continue living like a fucking incel, I'm roping lol

Gardening is magical, also studying plants, animals and insects. The other day I brought my pencils and notepad to the garden and drew my blueberry plant. I noticed the 5 pointed pentemerous leaves of the flowers and wondered what that was all about. Reading erasmus darwin will no that, you start viewing the world through the wonderous bloom and death cycle of the seasons. I've also started appreciating David Attenborough more deeply and want to emulate him. There will be a 17th century revival of science, art and nature. As we move into Aquarius and bio technology inspired by ai takes over technology, the limiting factor is our imagination and the direction we want to go. We will have to go back through nature and study it at a deeper level. This will be a huge revival of art, magic, nature, consciousness and abundance.

I grow tons of vegetables and my own weed. I just started my weed plants again. I have 20 pepper plants, 20 tomato plants, squash, cucumbers for pickles, and peas out in my yard.

Next year I am putting in another 3 garden boxes to grow more stuff. I'd like to grow some berry bushes to make home-made wine with.
I can most of what I harvest and a lot of meat I get, so if the power went out and stores all closed, I would have at least 4 months of food that doesn't require refrigeration.
if I run out or don't have something, I can always trade whatever I need for some weed that I have stockpiled, or home-made wine.
I also hunt and fish.
fuck the food jew.

>Scientists may have been unknowingly inflating microplastics pollution estimates, and the surprising source could be their own lab gloves. A University of Michigan study found that common nitrile and latex gloves release tiny particles called stearates, which closely resemble microplastics and can contaminate samples during testing. In some cases, this led to wildly exaggerated results, forcing researchers to track down the unexpected culprit.

a simple hygiene issue. it's not that they aren't a problem, just not as much of a problem as many think

I do kratky buckets near windows and skylights and grow veggies indoors.
People don't realize hydroponics can be easier and lower maintenance than dirt container farming. I only have to add water to the bucket once every few weeks and make sure the aquarium bubbler is plugged in.

pretty badass, i would love to do that over winter or something. i live in northern ontario so we get super short seasons and i can only reliably grow a few things
i watched all kinds of videos on it but never got around to it.
and the price of those things in the store is wild, you are probably recouping your investment quickly
>>
>>539070672
Bet this guy gets a better yield than you do, lol. Those containers will probably last longer than a year, although I agree that using a regular household storage tote isn’t ideal. He’ll learn when they eventually crack or fail and upgrade to something better. Until then, though, it clearly works well enough.

Growing plants is an incredibly rewarding skill, and like OP said, it would be extremely valuable in an SHTF scenario. If I can grow top-shelf weed, that becomes something I could potentially trade for food, supplies, or other necessities with people who still want to get high. If I’m growing strawberries, blueberries, or other fruit, I can preserve it, ferment it, and turn it into alcohol to trade as well. I can essentially open up my own saloon in a bottlecap town and probably run a few tricks as well get a steady income off booze, weed and pussy. I will have so many sardeen cans(the currency of the future.)

There’s really no downside to learning how to grow plants. It teaches patience, self-reliance, and how to produce something valuable from practically nothing. When you get good at it, it becomes one of the most useful and satisfying skills you can have.
>>
>>539070221
nice cukes.
I already made 8 jars of pickles, and I have a shitload more growing now, so I'll be giving out jars of pickles and salsa for christmas gifts.

last year I had a lot of my pepper plants in 5 gal plastic buckets with expensive fox farm soil and they grew like shit. I barely got anything. this year I put them in a garden box, and they are doing much better. I have some of those fabric 5 gal pots that I'm using, and they work a lot better than the plastic.

I have a shitload of old aquarium stuff so i might make up a hydro system for my grow tent.
>>
the tubs are convenient if you don't have the space to plant in the ground. But plants always do better in the ground. If you're going to use containers, it's best to use the thick kiln fired pots, but they're heavy and expensive.
>>
I got a bunch of beds and random ass plants
Although i get most of my mileage out of growing herbs
>>
>>539071165
people don't think about how valuable something that takes your mind off of things is going to be when everything sucks.

I definitely always stockpile weed and booze just for the chance that it will be incredibly valuable in the future. you can trade pretty much anything you want for it. and I like to drink and smoke, so it's self-serving to stockpile it.

Of course bugs and snakes like them too. Spiders also. Do I just piss on them?

>>

>>
>>539071074
>>539071252
there's almost no investment, I'm cheap as fuck
All you need is a bucket half full of water and one of those $12 aquarium bubblers, most people already have at least one of the two kicking around somewhere. If you can't be fucked to paint the bucket black or cover it in tape to keep light out, you can just tie a garbage bag around it.
You can add any liquid fertilizer to the water. Lot of garden stores even give away decayed plant water soup for free that will do the job.
The hardest part is finding a way to suspend the plant in the bucket lid so the roots hang down into the bucket. The industry standard is a net pot with clay beads or something. Fuck that, I just cut an inch off a pool noodle, stuff the plant in the hole, jam a lego axle through the middle to hold the plant, and stick it through a hole in the bucket lid
>>
>>539071333
>But plants always do better in the ground.
Plants do better wherever the fuck they get enough nutrients, oxygen and light.
Give them those things in the right proportions and you can grow plants out of your own asshole. It really doesn't matter.

Don't you need very specific things like selenium, phosphorus, copper, potassium, magnesium, sulfur, etc. for the plant to be actually able to sustain your body needs? Plant can't get it from the air, so I wonder whether hydroponic raised food isn't just empty and will cause silent deficiencies.

very nice.
I've been buying store green onions, cutting most off and just planting them in the dirt and cut it off as needed. it's infinite green onions and you only have to buy them once.

I'd rather grow them from seed to avoid hepatitis and whatever else comes from the mexcreants that pick them with their shit covered hands.
I remember the chi-chi's hepatitis outbreak.
and this new shit yourself to death bug that people are getting is from green onions too.

it's not worth the risk or cost to buy produce now. just grow it yourself or don't eat it at all.

The average person, myself included, can’t grow food to save his life.
If I had to survive just growing food in my garden I’d have to start eating my neighbours. We have two fruit trees fully established in the garden that produce fuck all every year.
This year the cherry tree had hundreds of flowers all over it. I started to notice little green blobby things appearing. One by one they all vanished before every ripening. I would guess the grey scum for them.
It’s hopeless.
>>
>>539067952

that's the whole appeal of kratky is that you can use what's essentially garbage to make something that feeds you
i even saw a side by side comparison of a classic kratky setup with no bubbler and one with a bubbler. the one without did better, oddly. if you are getting results then good, you may just want to try one batch of something without a bubbler, which is even cheaper, and see if it works just as well.
i saw the pool noodle idea on youtube as well, it's the cheapest most effective setup. this is very easy for most anons to replicate.
i don't have a car and it's hard for me to get a lot of things unless they're deliverable. so even buckets with lids or tote bins are hard to come by for me. maybe i can figure something else out. this has really renewed my interest in it though, thanks for posting your based setup
if you want to try something new, you might like ground cherries. they're the most reliable thing i can grow in this short season. they're related to tomatoes, but taste like pineapple and citrus and a tiny bit of tomato. they sell for $20 a kilo, and they also call them goldenberries in the store. super high in nutrients, especially vitamins a and c. they also start flowering really fast, and they just keep growing and making more berries until they freeze solid. you can also make cuttings really easily and clone them from a mother plant. the seeds take about 2-3 weeks to sprout, so i put them on a wet paper towel in a ziploc bag with a $30 led grow light on them until they do.
rabbits and birds got most of my stuff last year, it must be pretty cool to have ideal conditions all the time.
>>
>>539073331

i've got some perennial ones that grow back year after year in a pot for several years. they're called welsh onion. i've let mine go to flower to see what they look like and to get some seeds.
oregano is also perennial and is great added to pasta at the last minute when fresh (don't cook fresh oregano, it tastes like shit).
>>539076805
you can make hybrid pickles which do end up fermenting a bit by just putting cut up carrots in a jar and pouring a vinegar, salt and water mix over them and putting them in the fridge for a week. i tried some months later and they get sooo good.
i get pickles from the store, and keep the brine and add it, the dill goes great with carrots. i did the same with cabbage and i liked it better than sauerkraut.
