I raise them for meat sometimes. They're quite a bit more work to pluck than chickens, though I suspect that's solved if you're raising them on an industrial scale. Hybrid Pekin is ready for the freezer in around 8 weeks and has close to the feed conversion ratio of Cornish Cross.Likely we don't raise them on an industrial scale because you can't make McNuggets out of them or other processed food products which accounts for about half the chickens we raise.

Only time I ate it is when I was a kid and injured one wandered on my granparents land, we tried to take care of it first hoping it would heal.
Not sure, it just doesn't sound appealing. I prefer beef, horse and pork (to a lesser degree). Chicken is something I eat because it's cheap not because I prefer it over other meats. Tried turkey for a while too but I like chicken better. Lamb is good but I rarely eat it because it reminds me of mudslims. Horse meat is the absolute best, but too expensive and rare.

Duck is fairly common here, but maybe I just get that impression because I'm a posh git. I think it puts people off because it's difficult to cook well, without technique it'll have a huge layer of rubbery, unrendered fat. Also like a lot of game birds the raw meat has a rather strong smell.

I've experimented with duck, pheasant, Cornish game hen, gator tail, ground ostrich. They're good but not much meat per pound, chicken is the best tasting, yields the most meat and is cheap as fuck. Ostrich is funny, texture of beef but tastes like chicken. Bear meat is actually pretty good by itself. Venison and elk are pretty similar. Yak is basically like elk. Chicken, beef and pork are superior.

Quebec produces most of our duck which is pretty decent quality (brome lake) but still not as good as the fraser valley duck in BCi usually get a whole one once a month or so
