Actual literacy requires a classical education, which includes the Trivium. Hardly anyone is actually literate today. There were actually more literate people in the 19th century. Reading can be done the wrong way, the way they teach in school, just programming, or it can be done the right way, which requires study of the Trivium. Reading without actual literacy is a waste of time and energy.
