Greedy corporate ISP takeover.
Poland had laser links across city ends.
Romania had thousands of private ISPs with speeds greater than Swedish universities.
They all bent the knee one by one, went anti-social, paid the subscription and bought the TV channels.
Minor ISPs sold out in bulk, some fetched nice rewards.

Nikola Tesla wanted to use the earth's atmosphere and earth ground as a conduit for electricity (Wardenclyffe Tower). the jews didn't want that because then it wouldn't be metered and they couldn't charge the goyim for it easily.

i bet the same could be done for an internet.
