First of all, illegals don't go through regular channels to register to work, they're paid under the table, and they'd still be paid under the table after digital ID, nothing would change there. Secondly, there are already regulations that prevent employers from hiring illegals, you could just enforce the law that's already on the books without insisting that everyone sacrifice their privacy.
