When they aren't simply outright lying about jobs locals don't want to do, they completely miss why that's the case. Usually, the profession wasn't unappealing because of the profession its self. It becomes unappealing because of the influx of migrant workers. The culture of the profession changes beyond recognition. Why would a local want to go into roofing in the US if they're going to be surrounded by Mexicans conversing in Spanish all day? The profession s became unappealing after immigration, not before.
