It's a byproduct of not caring about history. Existential struggles are what temper human ambition. People who don't have that tend to live in the moment, and when you mention future plans, or some past event you feel to be an identity defining moment they just look at you weird if it doesn't/didn't lead to material enrichment. There's another component too, people become hoarders when they are lonely, if their parents engage in chronically rewarding in the absence of social activity. The problem most parents have with their kids being/becoming autistic or obsessive about something, (labubu, card games, video games, gender...) comes from spoiling them instead of helping them develop socially. Some parents are just plain retarded and reinforce the isolation that drive their kids toward materiality/pointless obessesions/hoarding. You have to kind of think like a leader if you wanna see past all the stupid pointless crap and not become complacent or distracted by instant material gratification. Dumping phones/ipads on toddlers is going to make this exponentially worse in the future because slopmedia and youtube created a feedback loop of consume product get excited for next products. People wonder why their kids can't focus on anything when their infant brains are being programmed to absorb parasocial happiness from a screen rather than their immediate environment.
