The Dutch Randstad (which includes Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht) is smaller than Los Angeles county. Euro style continuous blocks that share outer walls with neighbors is a nightmare. LA is better because (a) you can always drive away (b) you get to live in a detached house. Freedom.
