If you want to put sanctions/tariffs on chinese cars the Chinese can simply threaten to do the same for German cars thus ruining the export business. The politicians or the industry bosses don't seem to have caught on yet that no one in China is interested in buying their cars. Thats the issue its not Europe being naive its Europe being too obsessed with the blame game and not willing to move on from the old world.
