Looked into the "civil war" and the amount of land is crazy. You have to regionalize to better understand it

Wife was born in Panama, grew up in Cincinnati suburbs, never traveled out of the city til after we got married. She's still amazed just how big the U.S. is when we go into the barren desert southern part of the mid-west each fall for vacation. Hundreds of miles of road with just an occasional tiny community with a hundred or less residents scattered sporadically along the way.
