>Thick black smoke is still rising from King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba hours after it was struck. It appears something inside the airport took a direct hit.

Why have they been pummeling Jordan over these past few days??
>>
Because american f35s, among others, are stationed there.
>>
>JUST IN: DIRECT IMPACT Kuwaiti power station.

WTF IS GOING ON
>>
In my day, King Hussein Airport was how a lot of contractors got in and out of Iraq. You fly to Europe, then Jordan, then BIAP.

Maybe there were spooks gathered there.

Sad to see Jordan being drug into this. I know some good people there that rescue dogs.

Is all this destruction really worth having US troops stationed there?

this...jordanians are bro tier

This can be fixed in a week if the US simply adopts the well known dissuasive technique of 1x10: if you destroy one of mine, I will destroy 10 of yours.

Most people can't do that, because they don't have the power, the US does in spades.

If they have done that from day 1 of the war, Iran would have surrendered and negotiated by now. Iran attacks a hotel in the UAE, the US destroys the 10 most important hotels in Tehran. Iran attacks Dubai Airport, the US immediately destroys the10 most important airports in Iran, Iran attacks a random tanker crossing Hormuz, the US destroys 10 Iranian tankers. The Trump admin is simply competently regarded.

>>
>>539234205
this is same isis shit all over again. why won't they attack the jews in israel?
>>
>>539235245
Thry simply aren't capable of that without risking American lives in an already deeply unpopular war. The shotdown pilot debacle made them shit their pants. They want out.
>>
>>539235245
you're right, but the US can't do this because of civilian casualties, it would completely contradict our liberal view that all people yearn for democracy and need to be liberated from their evil overlords.
If we were to treat civilian populations as a strategic resource of the enemy country, we'd be back in WW2 thinking, and that is pretty unthinkable to most of the US establishment.
>>
>>539234205
Its on off the biggest US strategic hubs in the area
>>
>>539235780
>why dont they waste ammo pointlessly attacking the most hardline and best defended member of the enemy coalition

No wonder you people still shit in the street.

You love to see it.

>>539235545
Are you forgetting that we landed multiple C-130s on their soil to rescue 1 guy?
>>
>>539236108
And we have yet to see a single picture of that guy. That shit was almost certainly a botched attempt at setting up a raid on one of their nuclear sites.

If the US had applied this logic with the Iranian Navy before, specially in Bandar Abbas base, focusing to annihilate the ships ASAP, the iranian naval resistance would be minimum and insignificant to break the blockade, allowing a coordinated operation in some more fronts taking way less time (Operations based in the Arabian Peninsula/Gulf countries). But the local terrain and the increasingly inner protection by drones (Which can make a considerable damage in merchant ships and tanks) cannot be ignored. If the US miraculously had the balls to send actual soldiers and their own drones there, they would be vulnerable due to Guerrilla Warfare (Like they suffered massive losses in two certain neighbouring countries).
>>
>>539238859
It's not just drones. It's artillery and a host of missiles...100,000s of thousands of them and it' s not just on the coastline. It's deeply embedded deep inland. Go send an army (50,000? ) into this hell hole. Remember Iraq is the alluvial plains between the Tigris and Euphrates river. Iran is a whole other kettle of fish.

And all that artillery, drones and missiles are embedded in those solid rock mountains at beyond 200 ft so nuke away...it'll accomplish nothing.

This makes Iwo Jima and Mt. Suribatchi look like a trip to Disney World.

Thucydides trap.

You made an excellent point here. I was mostly referring to Afghanistan instead of Iraq due to the Afghan mountainous terrain (Way more similar to Iranian relief), and the more unfavourable U.S. Military results, but the Iraq comparison you did is indeed very accurate.
