Having spent a lot of time on US Gulf bases, a raid is feasible.
US Forces put more effort into importing Goyslop facilities than actual camp defences, with AF Security Guards treating the job like its a CONUS Gate Guard duty, and rely too heavily on local forces who are of course useless.

Midterms are inching closer each day. Trump is under pressure to wrap up the mess in Iran and since he's not willing to cut his losses and move on, he's going to have to try escalation. The closer the election gets, the more desperate he's going to get for a "quick and easy" win. Problem is the moves that will accomplish that either have a low probability of success or have major costs that would linger well past the event.
