The east sides of both states are quite rural and Conservative. Yakima, in eastern WA, is like a little Mexico, though. Spokane is nice and has it's own private Christian college (Gonzaga), but is pretty trailer trashy in it's own way. Better than Seattle? Not really sure... but my guess would be yes. The Oregon coast and San Juan islands are probably the most scenic areas here; but very expensive and quite liberal. Our gun laws suck here too, but weed laws are nice (better in Oregon as they allow delivery). Oregon is also, although being super liberal, quite White. Lots of Germans and Lutherans. Some parts of Washington have this feel (see Edmonds, mentioned before)- but Asians have displaced Whites in most of the rich WASP-y areas in Western Wash.
