If the patient is ovulating, producing some amount of testosterone/male hormones resulting in male characteristics, at least starting to develop egg follicles as is somewhat obvious from the picture, and attempting to mount/mate, that would infer a retrospective diagnosis of “true hermaphroditism” from the simultaneously functioning (albeit poorly) sex organs once found.Maybe it helps that both male and female chickens naturally grow the same cloaca making a mixture of functioning sex tissues much easier. Regardless, true hermaphroditism is actually much more common in birds than mammals. At least in avian medicine it’s such a common phenomenon that I would assume we never really phased out the term hermaphrodite, since I am not aware of any PC replacement terminology to describe it.

"True hermaphroditism" is an outdated medical term that was used for ot-dsd until 2006. Hermaphrodite continues to be used in zoology but was retired from human use/the ICD in 2006.
