Honestly, even Grecian "speak-chuckers" 3000 years ago were more advanced than the majority of peoples the Europeans "discovered" in post-Columbian contacts. Hell, the Mycenaean Greeks c.1250BC (who built the Lion's Gate in the pic) were probably more advanced than the entirety of sub-Saharan Africa circa 1850AD
