That is a rational reason, but it oculd have as easily been accomplished using the king's finger bones and feet, since everything that's "created" as a unit of measurement is based on an idea, not a command from the god of measurements. Aside from bias against the king, it was deemed preferable to not force brown people to use a base 60 system of measurement with a smaller deviation based upon 16ths or whatever the hell you decide on. The metric system is a communist ideal.
